On Saturday May 29, between 11 and 2pm we are having a clean-up of our streets and alleys, linking up again with the Great British Spring Clean. One of the not so good outcomes of the Covid lockdowns has been an increase of littering and fly-tipping. But on May 29 we Groves residents can do something about it. Come to the Community Garden between 11am and 2pm to collect a bag and litter-picker, and do your part as a good neighbour. Thanks to Moss Care St Vincent there will be refreshments, children’s treats and goody-bags. It will be good to meet up again too! Email for more details. Also... as part of our Tidy Up there will be free collection of large unwanted items of household rubbish. A van like this one will be parked in South Grove on the 29th between 12 and 2pm, or until it is full. Priority given to residents who help with the litter-picking. Bring your unwanted large household items and they will be taken away in return for a smile and a thank you! (Big thanks to David at Grove Village)

First, thanks to all who joined in our Socially Distant Litter Pick a few weeks ago. Quite a few bags were filled and removed by Biffa a couple of days later.
Since then Greater Manchester has come under 'Tier 3' Covid restrictions – currently the highest level, meaning Very High Risk. Click here to see what this means. Remember, these rules will only work if we all stick to them. To get on top of this virus, everyone has to play their part. Protect your neighbours by wearing a mask outdoors. Hands - face - space! We're having another socially distant litter-pick over the weekend of October 3-4. Due to the Coronavirus lockdown we haven't been able to organise one of our usual picks centred on the MSA Office, but it's been good that some individuals have been continuing to do some de-littering. We need to try and stay on top of keeping our streets and alleys clean and tidy for good hygiene reasons. And it looks so much better.
Just go out at a time that suits on Saturday or Sunday and fill a bag with rubbish, keeping a safe distance away from other people. BIFFA will collect official bags from the usual place at the end of Upper West and West Groves. If you need bags or pickers send an email. Let's be good neighbours. You should have had our latest newsletter through your door in the last couple of days. It includes news of a litter-pick over the weekend of July 11-12. Due to the Coronavirus lockdown we haven't been able to organise one of our usual picks centred on the MSA Office, but it's been good that some individuals have been doing some anyway. We need to try and stay on top of keeping our streets and alleys clean and tidy for good hygiene reasons. And it looks so much better. Just go out at a time that suits during next Saturday or Sunday and fill a bag with rubbish, keeping a safe distance away from other people. BIFFA will collect official bags from the usual place at the end of Upper West and West Groves. If you need bags or pickers send an email. Let's be good neighbours. Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) precautions the Great Groves Spring Clean planned for this Saturday has been CANCELLED. If any individuals would like to do a bit of litter-picking please go ahead. Leave the bags at the usual place at the North Grove end of Upper West Grove. We will arrange for them to be taken away. You may already have a picker and rubbish bags, but if not, send an email with your details and we can get those for you. Keep safe. Be kind. We are taking part in the Great British Spring Clean again this year. Our Groves Clean-Up will be on Saturday on March 21. Come along anytime between 11am and 2pm. As before we are being supported by Manchester City Council, Moss Care St Vincent housing. local businesses such as MSA, and our Councillors will be calling in. Also this year we welcome Manchester Student Homes who will be encouraging our local students to come and join in. We will have prizes and goody-bags and we're asking everyone if they can to bring some cake or biscuits to share. Let's make it a fun community and family time together doing something positive. Our clean-up is registered with Keep Britain Tidy and our number of volunteers and numbers of bags filled will be counted in the national statistics. More details soon. On Wednesday April 24, 10am to 2pm there will be an Action Day on the Groves, led by the Council with support from Biffa (who empty our bins) and housing providers such as Mosscare St Vincent, Arawak and S4B. Activities will include jet washing, litter-picking, removing bulky waste and advice over a cuppa about your concerns. There will be free give-aways, goodie bags, prizes for children and more. Further information from Tanique on 07703 807200. A big thank you to everyone who turned up to help at our Groves Spring-Clean on Saturday as part of the Great British Spring Clean. About 25 adults and numerous children came to pick up litter and make our streets and alleys look really tidy. We also had support from MSA, MossCare St Vincent, Biffa, local police and Councillors. Thank you to all of them. Around 40 pink 'Community Clean up' bags were filled. Of course the ongoing challenge is to keep it like this. To help encourage people to dispose of their rubbish properly (and catch those who don't!) there will be an Action Day on the Groves on April 24 involving leaflets, signs, lights, cameras and more. Watch out for more info about this soon.
Our Groves Clean-Up is next Saturday on March 30. Come along anytime between 11am and 2pm. Look at our clean-up here. We're taking part in the Great British Spring Clean, organised by Keep Britain Tidy on Saturday March 30, 11-2pm. We have monthly clean-ups, but this one will be a bit whizzier, with refreshments, goodies, prizes, and fun together for all ages doing something good for our community.
