Our Great Groves Tidy Up today went really well, with lots of residents helping pick up litter and dispose of larger items of rubbish. It's so good to see the Groves spick and span – long may it last! Good also to meet up again and do work together for the good of our community and environment. It was great to welcome PC Josh Wigley and two of his colleagues who got stuck in. Big thanks to all who helped and also to MossCare St Vincent housing for providing lots of goodie bags and refreshments, Dave from Grove Village for the truck for removing several loads of large items of rubbish, and Manchester City Council for bags and pickers. Here are some photos from the day.

On Saturday May 29, between 11 and 2pm we are having a clean-up of our streets and alleys, linking up again with the Great British Spring Clean. One of the not so good outcomes of the Covid lockdowns has been an increase of littering and fly-tipping. But on May 29 we Groves residents can do something about it. Come to the Community Garden between 11am and 2pm to collect a bag and litter-picker, and do your part as a good neighbour. Thanks to Moss Care St Vincent there will be refreshments, children’s treats and goody-bags. It will be good to meet up again too! Email for more details. ![]() Also... as part of our Tidy Up there will be free collection of large unwanted items of household rubbish. A van like this one will be parked in South Grove on the 29th between 12 and 2pm, or until it is full. Priority given to residents who help with the litter-picking. Bring your unwanted large household items and they will be taken away in return for a smile and a thank you! (Big thanks to David at Grove Village) |
